"Just like a neuronal graffiti, the last image frame was dancing indecisive between his blinded photo-receptors and his immediate memory." Little he knew the image would continue to develop, nurtured by his subconscious, into a whole new idea.

Read globally, blog locally

One of the discussions during the Mesh session with Om Malik had to do with the differentiator factor between old and new media. Newspapers have invested for a long time to build an infrastructure that allows them to summarize those events that are relevant to the masses. In the process of doing so they have to limit themselves to the facts and a voice that is just the echo of the most popular trends. They fail to capture the wide variety of voices that constitute the real world.

This is where blogs will make a difference. As long as they can defeat their obsession to try to become large news sources and commit to their very own voice and represent a very specific sector of the population they will be first and they will be closer to their audience.

So to make sure your blog is relevant, all you need to do is figure out how all those big news you read about are relevant to those close to you and represent them.
